It could be, that this is our only chance to become world champions.
I enclose a little information of our national team and a picture
taken in Brazil during the Pan American Championship june '06,
where we qualified to the WC through a victory again USA of 30 - 29.

Hier ein kurzer Abriss der bisherigen Geschichte:
GREENLAND HANDBALL FEDERATION
Greenland Handball Federation (GHF) was founded 11. may 1974 during a unofficial national
championship. The Federation is situated at the largest island in the world (2.1 mill. km²).
Greenland has home rule under Denmark. Greenland has app. 57.000 inhabitants.
In the capital Nuuk lives app. 14.000.
Every year since 1974, there have been held a national championship for seniors, U20,
U18 and U15 as well for women as for men. The Championships are arranged in a way, so that
the qualified teams meet in a tournament, held typically over a week.
GHF has 18 member clubs and app. 2.000 active players. All players are amateurs. Handball
is played from Qaanaaq in the north to Nanortalik in the south.
GHF is lead by a committee of 7 elected for two years at an annual held Congress.
The president mr. Palle Jerimiassen was elected in 2005. Just like the players all leaders
are unpaid volunteers.
After a provisional membership Greenland was admitted membership as country no. 139 in the
International Handball Federation 18th september 1998 at the congress in Yamassoukro
at the Ivory Coast.
Since then, Greenland has participated at every male Pan American Championship, and has
succeeded to qualify to the WC in France 2001 (nr. 20) and in Portugal 2003 (no. 24).
Again in 2007 Greenland participates at WC, this time in Germany after a third place at the
qualification round in Brazil in 2006, where USA was defeated 30 – 29 in the final match.
In advance to the WC in Germany, the Greenlandic national team will have a training session
6th to 9th January 2007 hosted by Silkeborg-Voel from the Danish Handball League.
Thereupon the training session are transferred to Mulhausen in France. The team will stay
here 10th to 19th of January 2007.
The Greenlandic National Team arrives in Wetzlar in Germany 19th. January 2007. Greenland
will play their first group match against Slovenia on January 20th 2007 at 18.00 local time.
The other participants of the group are Tunisia and Kuwait.
Greenland has a young national team building up supplied with some older players, who has
participated in the two WC’s, where Greenland was qualified. The average age of the team is
23 years. The oldest player is 43 years. The youngest are 17 years.
The team has two debutants.
